A new Virginia Schematron file has been posted to the NEMSIS
website. It can be found at:
https://nemsis.org/state-data-managers/state-map-v3/virginia/
These Schematron changes do not go into effect until 07.27.2020.
Over the past two years, OEMS has attempted to work with all agencies
and vendors to ensure compliance with the Virginia Data Dictionary.
While great progress has been made (OEMS appreciates all of the hard
work many agencies and their vendors have done), there are still some

_Important Note regarding the version number__: __When the previous
version was released, there was confusion regarding the version number
since Virginia is on NEMSIS v3.4.0. To clarify, the version number
of the new dictionary is being adjusted to 3.4.0.3 (the 4th digit will
indicate the number of times a new dictionary is produced while on
3.4.0). This change should not be interpreted as any sort of
reversal. It is a move forward._

submitted (eDisposition.01) must be an exact match (generic code names
are exempt) to the list published by OEMS. Also, all destination
codes (eDispos...
To better facilitate research projects and to accommodate various
agency requests, we are going to be updating 123 individual hospital
names in the Virginia Elite system. While a few of these are to
correct superficial issues such as spacing or misspellings, the
majority of these changes are to add the corporate/parent name to each
facility.
For example. Currently, we have DePaul Medical Center set up in the
Virginia Elite system. When the facility name is updated, it will be

To ensure changes, updates, or corrections an agency makes within the

quality are properly reflecting on future data quality reports, we
have created an FAQ regarding how agencies need to communicate those
changes to OEMS support.
Because of the manual nature of how we must review data quality, it is
not practical for OEMS personnel to perform a 6-month review each time
a new quality report is published. However, support can...

As previously communicated, the “Set From Postal Code” option is
being replaced with the “Location Lookup” option on the Virginia
EMR form on 07.17.2018 . When used, the Location Lookup option
returns more valid choices than the Set from Postal Code option.
This change is being made because of the large volume of issues being
discovered regarding how users are documenting the names of counties,
independent cities, and states.
To illustrate our challenge, during the first half of 2018, agenc...
